QuarkXPress 8 goes on international tour

Quark plans to host a 58 city international tour to introduce QuarkXPress 8 to creative professionals.

The company also promises to release a 60-day, fully functional test drive version of its newly-upgraded graphics and design suite in future.

The tour, which runs until October, officially began last week with a customer event at the company's headquarters in Denver. The company will mount events in 30 countries, in Europe, Australia and New Zealand, Asia, the United States, and Latin America.

The QuarkXPress 8 Xperience Design Global Tour will offer attendees the chance to discover the new interface of XPress 8 as well as learn how to apply their design skills across print, the web, and to Flash.

Attendees will also learn about the new tools in QuarkXPress 8, including native Illustrator file import, improved picture, illustration, and text tools, fully customisable hanging characters, and design grids.

The tour will give creative professionals the opportunity to experience QuarkXPress 8 running on Mac OS X Leopard, the world's most advanced operating system. Experts will be on-hand to demonstrate the application's Mac-only features, including image layout sharing with Aperture and iPhoto, and Automator integration.

The UK leg of the tour visits Bristol, Edinburgh, London and Manchester. Spaces are limited and will be available on a first come basis.
