Shadow frees, shares multiple clipboards

UK developers The Escapers have introduced a public beta version of Shadow, an all-new clipboard utility which makes your clipboards available over networks.

The software will also manage multiple clipboard items, in as many clipboards as the user desires. Clipboards can be shared over the local network, either for everyone to use, or password protected.

Shadow is installed as a menu item alongside Spotlight, Time Machine and other system extensions. It's hidden from view until the user hits their own defined key shortcut, Shadow is then displayed and your local and network clipboards are made available. Clipboard items can be double-clicked to insert them into the system clipboard and then the shortcut hit again to hide Shadow.

The software uses Bonjour technology to automatically seek out other Shadow users on your network, and they'll appear in your copy of Shadow the moment they are found. Shadow installations can also notify each other of changes, so the moment a clipboard item is added, it appears in all other copies of Shadow browsing that clipboard.

The software is available for free testing now, and works with both Tiger and Leopard Macs.
