Apple’s other Steve to grace ‘Dancing with the Stars’

Apple’s co-founder Steve Wozniak will be among the 13 competitors starring in the new season of Dancing with the Stars, the US version of Strictly Come Dancing, ABC has announced.

Woz claims he's not much of a dancer, but said that his goddaughter had persuaded him to take part when ABC approached him about the show.

The Apple pioneer re-emerged last week as the chief scientist at Fusion-io, a computer storage start-up and is believed to be already in training for his new venture.

Woz was also a regular on ‘Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List,’ shown on Bravo in the US, as he was dating the comedian at the time.

The other celebrity dancers are: the Go-Go’s lead singer Belinda Carlisle; rapper Lil’ Kim; actress Denise Richards; actor-comedian David Alan Grier (Comedy Central’s Chocolate News); Gilles Marini, who played the neighbour ogled by Kim Cattrall’s Samantha in the Sex and the City film; Steve-O (MTV’s Wildboyz); TV host Nancy O’Dell of Access Hollywood; Olympic gold-medal gymnast Shawn Johnson; pop star Jewel and her husband, rodeo champion Ty Murray; country singer Chuck Wicks; and former New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor.

The US version of Dancing with the Stars is hosted by Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris, with Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba judging the contestants.

Goodman and Tonioli are both stars of the UK version Strictly Come Dancing, hosted by Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly.

The new series begins on ABC on 9 March, UK Gold, now G.O.L.D has shown the series in the recent past.
