Mubaloo intros Fuel Prices UK for iPhone, iPod touch

Mubaloo, a company who creates and develops business applications for smartphones, has introduced the Fuel Prices UK application for iPhone, iPod touch.

With fuel prices constantly changing Mubaloo promises to keep users up to date with the best available prices both locally and across the UK when drivers plan a longer journey.

Mubaloo approached Experian, a global leader in providing information, analytical and marketing services, who own a company called Catalist to provide accurate information on fuel prices.

Every day, another company called Arval, collect thousands of fuel card transactions and send them back to Catalist.

Catalist then collate them and put them into a database which Mubaloo purchase. This insists Mubaloo, ensures accurate price data at over 9,000 petrol stations around the UK. These are updated every day, except Saturday and Sunday.

The iPhone application checks the ten closest petrol stations to you and then ranks the cheapest five. Green is the cheapest, red the most expensive.

Fuel Prices UK also offers directions to the cheapest petrol supplier - using Google Maps - if you are unfamiliar with the area.

The application caters for unleaded, super unleaded, diesel, ultimate diesel and LPG. A list of the stations is also available as well as a zoom capability.

Available from the Apple iTunes App Store Fuel Prices UK costs 4.99 and requires the iPhone 3.0 Software Update or later.

A two pence rise in UK fuel duty has just come into effect, the third such increase in nine months.
