HTC brings desktop browsing experience to mobile phone

Mobile phone maker HTC is bringing the desktop browsing experience into the mobile phone with the launch of its new HTC Touch HDTM, an entertainment-focused mobile handset.

Mark Dewey Sergio, country manager of HTC Philippines, said the HTC Touch HDTM is designed for both business and consumer users alike who demand style and performance.

Sergio said the new mobile phone promises to transform multimedia experiences by people on the move or so called "road warriors."

By integrating a 3.8-inch wide-screen VGA display (WVGA), a standard 3.5mm audio jack and a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, plus integrated RSS reader, the HTC Touch HDTM is expected to be more spontaneous to use by consumers familiar with desktop browsing.

Examples of the phone's desktop browsing capabilities are browsing one's favorite Web sites, searching for and streaming video from YouTube or even catching up-to-the-minute news, blog posts, and video podcasts.

"The product would enable users to get the most out of the Internet," Sergio said, adding that with a high resolution, widescreen display, combined with download speeds up to 18 times faster than standard 3G, the HTC Touch HDTM can render Web sites quickly and in full-page width.

This, he noted, provides a comparable Internet experience to that of home broadband in terms of speed and page layout.

Pegged at Php55,900, Sergio described HTC Touch HDTM as having a stylish and sleek design.

Its 3.8-inch WVGA touchscreen offers users clear and vibrant colors that is ideal for watching movies, browsing the Internet or even scanning through photos taken with the 5 megapixel auto focus camera.

He said the device also has the HTC TouchFLO 3D user interface that provides quick and intuitive access to people, messages and content.

A standard 3.5mm headphone jack has also been designed-in, allowing consumers to use high-performance headphones with the device.
