Sony debuts compact Cyber-shot DSC-HX1

Sony has unveiled the Cyber-shot DSC-HX1 promising stunning picture quality, lightning-fast shooting and powerful creative features.

The new flagship of the Cyber-shot range comes with a range of professional features that are also intuitive and easy to use, says Sony.

The stylish and compact Cyber-shot DSC-HX1 includes a new Sony-developed 'Exmor' CMOS sensor with an effective resolution of 9.1 megapixels.

Originally developed for the Sony Alpha digital SLR system, 'Exmor' technology delivers outstanding images with reduced noise, especially when shooting in high ISO settings, says Sony.

The 'Exmor' CMOS sensor supports full-resolution shooting at an impressive10 frames per second (max) using a mechanical shutter, outpacing many pro-spec digital SLR cameras.

The 'Exmor' CMOS sensor also supports two new shooting modes that reduce image noise when shooting in low light.

The new Handheld Twilight mode grabs a high-speed burst of six frames, combining them to create a single optimised image with reduced noise levels.

Anti Motion Blur mode, meanwhile, also superimposes six frames to produce one crisp, composite image with less subject blur, says Sony.

'Sweep Panorama' is a new shooting mode that aims to capture landscapes, city scenes and more. The Cyber-shot HX1 stitches together a high-speed burst of frames to create an extra-wide, high-resolution image.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX1 offers pro features in a small package.

Making its Cyber-shot debut is a new G Lens that has been designed to complement the imaging possibilities of the 'Exmor' CMOS sensor and BIONZ processor.

The Cyber-shot HX1 is also the first compact camera from Sony that’s capable of shooting 1080/30p HD movies, producing HD video clips plus stereo sound at 30 frames per second.

The Cyber-shot DSC-HX1 digital compact camera will be available from the beginning of May with UK pricing to be confirmed.
