Japanese smartphone buyers are agog at the prospective launch of the iPhone in the country, with the device generating the most interest of all smartphones.
An iShare survey this week confirms that 57 per cent of all those surveyed where most interested in the iPhone, which will be made available in Japan via carrier SoftBank.
Interest is high among men and women, iShare claims. 60.3 per cent of men and 54.7 per cent of women are most interested in the iPhone.
Other handsets didn't make that cut, with the number two choice, the Willcom D4, in at 35.8 per cent. While BlackBerry and Windows Mobile devices lay at the bottom of the table, holding 8.8 per cent interest, iShare claims.
In order of preference, the following attributes are considered the most important by the Japanese audience when buying a phone: lightness, compactness, "slimness", stylishness, casualness, optional colours, touch panel.
