Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars now available for iPhone

One of the biggest names in videogaming has now appeared on the iPhone, with the release of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for the iPhone and iPod touch.

Grand Theft Auto (GTA) is one of the biggest videogame franchises of all time, and its appearance on the iPhone further cements the device's position as a credible alternative to Sony's PSPGo and Nintendo's DSI consoles.

The game is sure to prove popular too, costing just 5.99 on the App Store compared to the 29.99 that both Nintendo and Sony are charging for their respective consoles.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars differs from the full console versions of the game in that it is played in a 3D isometric view. But it was well received by the videogaming press, Macworld UK's sister site GamePro gave it 4.5/5 stating: "it's an absolute blast from start to finish with plenty of trademark Liberty City locales ripe for exploration, not to mention a cast of incredibly memory characters"

The series is known for its black humour and objectionable content, and iTunes asks users to confirm they are 17 or over before downloading the app. It's a hefty download too, weighing in at 188 MB.
