The Sky News application for iPhone and iPod touch has been downloaded over one million times. Launched in May 2009, the application offers a mix of national, international and business news along with sports and showbiz coverage and all important weather forecasts. Brief video reports and Sky News radio bulletins are also available.

Sky now has several free and paid applications on the Apple iTunes App Store. Sky also announced the launch of a new free Mobile internet service.
A dedicated website m.skynews.com is formatted for mobile devices and smartphone users will now be automatically directed to the new version of the Sky News Web Mobile internet site.
"In less than a year we've already seen millions of downloads of Sky's various iPhone apps and the Sky News has been an important factor in this," said David Gibbs, the general manager for mobile at Sky.
"Now, by launching our mobile internet service beginning with Sky News, we are able to provide a tailored experience to the increasing number of customers looking to access Sky News via their mobile”
James Weeks, executive producer, new media for Sky News added: "The feedback for our iPhone app has been overwhelmingly positive since day one, and we’re delighted that it has reached the magic million download mark."

Sky has also launched a new free TV widget that allows people to access news stories and headlines via the Internet on any TV compatible with the Yahoo! Widget Engine.
